SHIBA stands for Senior Health Insurance Benefits Advisors
SHIBA is the Idaho SHIP (State Health Insurance Program).
Our program is state and federally funded and offers free Medicare
counseling to Medicare beneficiaries, their families, other agencies,
and businesses seeking information. We provide education about Medicare
and how to avoid scams and fraud related to Medicare as well as
offering counseling to assist beneficiaries to identify appropriate
Medicare plans, including Medicare Supplement plans (also known
as Medigap plans), Medicare Advantage plans, and Prescription Drug
plans (Part D). We help resolve problems associated with billing
issues, plan enrollments, or other issues; and we assist beneficiaries
to apply for assistance programs such as Extra Help and the Medicare
Savings Program.
We work closely with other agencies and programs such as the Idaho
Commission on Aging, Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP), Area Agencies
on Aging, provider organizations, and others in order to help Medicare
beneficiaries understand their Medicare coverage and Medicare-related
programs and services
SHIBA has offices in Coeur d'Alene, Boise, Twin Falls, and Pocatello
and counseling sites located throughout the State.
